With the new summer season fast approaching, fresh new looks and trends are constantly emerging. This season, it’s all about edgy cuts, throwback hairstyles and natural textures.

If you’ve been contemplating a change in your look – whether it’s a few subtle tweaks or a complete transformation – now is the perfect time to update your locks.

To help you decide on the best new style or colour for you, we’ve put together the latest hair trends for summer 2020. Check out the “it” looks for the upcoming season below!

The “Lob”

First up on the list of the hottest summer hair trends is the “lob” – aka, the long bob. Unlike a typical bob, which sits at the jawline, this bob sits just above the shoulders. It’s short enough to allow you to play with different textures, but still long enough to tie up.

This is the perfect style for those who are wanting to explore a shorter do, while still playing it safe. The lob is flattering for a range of hair types and face shapes, and also easy to maintain.

The Jagged-Edge Bob

The jagged-edge bob is a different take on the classic blunt bob – instead of being one length, this style is layered and choppy. The key to a great jagged-edge bob is lots of volume and lift. This cut gives a more ‘edgier’ look, and many celebrities are rocking this style, including Haley Baldwin and Gal Gadot.

Bronde

Not sure whether to go light or dark for the summer? Then ‘bronde’ is the perfect solution for you – the in-between colour of blonde and brunette that many models and celebrities alike are now sporting. There are a number of ways to achieve this hair colour, generally by mixing different shades of brown and blonde.

As well as being a low maintenance colour, the brown tones means that it’s less harsh on your hair than if you were to bleach it to a light blonde tone.

Colour Contrasting

This is not for the faint of heart, and would suit someone looking for a bright and bold transformation. Rather than subtle colours like highlight or balayage, colour contrasting is a lot more dramatic.

The sky’s the limit when it comes to colour contrasting – think glowing neons, transparent colour overlays, monochromatic colour palettes and futuristic colour schemes.

The Modern Shag

This throwback hairstyle has been trending all year – and it continues to be one of the hottest trends around as we head into the summer season. The modern shag is straight from the 70’s and 80’s, but with a more modern twist of textures and layers.

This cut is suited to both long and short hair, as well as all hair types – a great option for curly haired gals. You’ve likely seen Miley Cyrus rocking this look – and we think she pulls it off well!

Finding the right style or colour is always a challenge, so it’s best to consult with your stylist as to what will work best. After taking into consideration your hair type, face shape and lifestyle, your stylist will be able to suggest a range of options for you to choose from.
